To source effective material and minimise batch production time
Mach-Tech experimented with different material types and production processes. By working closely with the customer over a prototyping period of several months we identified a material that worked effectively and a production process which enabled manufacture in batches of 100's, with minimal cost and lead time. Components are now manufactured in batches and in line with customer demand patterns.
CASE STUDY 2
To complete a challenging prototype project within 2 weeks. To manufacture subsequent production batches whilst supporting progressive design change.
Several prototype components, including a complex component requiring an 8 stage manufacturing process, were successfully manufactured within the 2 week time period. Batch production has since progressed over the years, through multiple design changes. A solid working relationship has supported a deepening understanding of the production engineering issues involved.
CASE STUDY 3
To manufacture a component to enable scientific equipment to function to a sufficient level of accuracy so as to direct a beam of light from Oxford to Edinburgh, and appear within a 30mm tolerance.
Using precision machining and spark erosion Mach-Tech manufactured a component with a tilt mechanism that could consistently perform to a sufficient level of accuracy. The materials varied from aluminium to invar.
